This sketch was my first portrait of 2002 and broke an almost year-long hiatus from drawing. I had done other drawings that were just basically doodles and such since then, but this was the first real detail-oriented sketch in a long time. Jim Caviezel is a fantastic actor and an awesome man of Faith in Christ. He starred in one of my favorite movies of all time, Frequency, which is where I began admiring his talent, and which is also what inspired this picture (taken directly from a screen shot from the film, with a few liberties made — also, try imagining a ham radio microphone in front of him 🙂 ).
This drawing took about 4 to 5 hours straight one morning from about 12:30am through 5:30am April 25th, 2002. I made some minor changes the following evening (still the 25th) and was amazed it was complete. God totally helped me out here. There’s no way I could have done that with almost a year of doing next to nothing…
