This drawing has kind of an interesting story. I started it on February 5, 2009 and worked on it for a total of five different times during that month before abandoning it. I really didn’t like how it looked and I didn’t like feeling like I was wasting time on it. And, at the time, I wasn’t drawing regularly anymore.
After finishing the Minority Report sketch that I had similarly stopped working on in 2002, I was inspired to then pick up and rework/finish this one. I resumed work on it on May 6, 2013 and worked on it every night, missing one consecutive evening, until May 15. (It’s the same paper, same drawing as the original, just altered with lots of erasing and layering on top of what was already there.)
Ironically, one of my least favorite drawings has become one of my new favorites…

Below is a phone snap of the drawing that I recently took of its 2009 status before I started working on it again…
This was the state of the drawing as of
The 2009 ones hat is too high. Other than that it actually looks really good.
