While my family was revisiting this classic, albeit bizarre, 80’s sitcom, I felt inspired to draw the furry Alien Life Form known as ALF. I drew this one freehand using colored pencils and marker (as a base). It was definitely fun to do. 🙂 Etsy link for prints: https://www.etsy.com/listing/964862919/alf-colored-pencil-drawing-print

Colored Pencil Portrait of Richard Dean Anderson as “MacGyver”
With the resurgence of MacGyver with the recent TV reboot, I felt inclined to draw a childhood hero again. I had drawn one or two Mac portraits back in the 90s — one for a friend’s birthday — and I was just never happy with how they turned out. I […]
Colored Pencil Drawing of Elizabeth McGovern as Snow White
Sometimes I get the honor of doing commission pieces. This is a full-color colored pencil drawing of Elizabeth McGovern as Snow White from “Faerie Tale Theatre”.
Bill Murray as Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters with Animated RGB Peter
Like Egon before him, this one proved to be a huge struggle for me. First of all, I wanted a different-than-usual pose of Bill as Peter, and I wanted animated Peter to match the character well. I was drawn to the portraitesque post of Bill during Peter’s first encounter with […]
Pencil Portrait of Rick Moranis as Louis Tully / Vinz Clortho in “Ghostbusters”
Deciding to go for another Ghostbusters piece, I realized I’ve never drawn Louis! And I thought this portrait summed him up pretty nicely. The colander was pretty challenging with all the detail and various colors, but I was mostly happy with the end result. Pencil Portrait of Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver in “Ghostbusters”
Exhibit A. (See previous post about Audrey Hepburn) This was a challenge for sure. I really enjoy doing Ghostbusters themed pieces and I was surprised, while looking for inspiring images online, to have never seen the source photo for this drawing before. I found it especially challenging–since I draw entirely […]
Colored Pencil, Graphite mash-up of Roger Rabbit and Eddie Valiant from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”
I hit an inspiration wall after finishing Slimer. But while looking for new subject matter, I stumbled upon a wonderful photo of Roger standing on a car next to Bob Hoskins as Eddie in a promo photo for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a classic 80s film. I thought it would […]
Graphite and Colored Pencil Drawing of Singer/Producer/Director Steve Taylor
Move to Trash After finally seeing Steve Taylor in concert, fulfilling a longtime dream, I impulsively decided to draw one of the photos I took at a May 4th, 2014 concert in Manheim, PA. For the concert’s encore, Steve came out wearing his flashy jacket from the 80s and I […]
Pencil Drawing of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars
After working on the screenshot from Back To The Future and enjoying it so much, I decided to try my hand at another favorite movie scene. This time I took a screenshot from The Empire Strikes Back, the fifth (or second, depending how you look at it) Star Wars film. […]
Pencil Drawing of Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown in “Back To The Future”
As an avid Back to the Future fan, I’m surprised I haven’t thought of drawing Doc sooner. And good pics of him are hard to find online. However, I thought this one was out of the ordinary and captured the character well enough to attempt. I’m pretty happy with the […]
Pencil Drawing of Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz in Ghostbusters
As you’ve noticed by now, I’m a huge fan of Ghostbusters. Always have been. I did a drawing of Ray Stantz right out of college and I’m not a huge fan of it, but it sells a lot in my Etsy store (surprisingly to me). So I decided to work […]
Pencil Drawing of Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore in “Ghostbusters”
It’s not secret that I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan. So far, I’ve drawn Peter a few times, Ray twice and Egon a couple of times (for the first time this year). Where’s Winston? Nothing personal, Ernie, I just never got around to drawing Winston before. I had a really hard […]
Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly Pencil Portrait
After doing a marker drawing of Marty McFly, I had wanted to do a pencil portrait of one of my favorite film characters. After one attempt of a different source photo failed, I was pretty happy with this one’s outcome. And it’s another example of, what I feel is, drawing […]
