My grandfather actually drew portraits as a hobby, and I’ll never forget being shown drawings he did of famous actresses (of his day). After drawing so many pop culture characters recently, I just wanted beautiful subjects to draw, and so I decided to keep working on portraits of actresses – one after the other – just to keep practicing.
I found this glamour shot of Angelina Jolie while searching for inspiring photos to try to reproduce with pencil and just loved the candidness of it. The hardest part about it for me, though, was that the source image wasn’t very high resolution, so getting the desired details out of it wasn’t easy. (The clearer the image the better)
I drew this one freehand (like the others) with all graphite pencils.
