Colored Pencil Drawing of Marty McFly and the Delorean from Back to the Future

To complete the unofficial trilogy of heroes and their vehicles, I decided to do a full color Marty McFly with his Delorean. And, as I was working on it, decided to put the clock tower in in the background as well.

Colored Pencil Drawing of Marty and Doc from Back To The Future / II

Marty-and-Doc-full-color-copyAnother movie I like doing drawings for is Back To The Future. But I’ve never done a drawing of Marty and Doc together. This image is pretty iconic–which is also shared in both the first and second movies (although I do think this is probably at the beginning of Back To The Future II after they remade this scene). Anyway, the drawing is made with colored pencils on 9×12 Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper.

Pencil Drawing of Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly with Crispin Glover as George McFly

Marty-George-DinerWhile looking for a good photo of Christopher Lloyd online to draw, I ended up taking a screenshot of one of my favorite scenes in Back To The Future to consider drawing later on. I decided to make it my next project and also decided to return to the graphite / colored pencil hybrid by coloring his vest with Prismacolor colored pencils. I’m mostly happy with the end result (and decided to hang it next to my office 🙂 )

Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly Portrait

After doing a marker drawing of Marty McFly, I had wanted to do a pencil portrait of one of my favorite film characters. After one attempt of a different source photo failed, I was pretty happy with this one’s outcome. And it’s another example of, what I feel is, drawing in the background adding to the result.
